with colleagues and customers – putting people at the heart of everything that you do
Typical Shifts: Various
Salary Range: Competitive
Becoming a manager in a Tesco Store gives you a driving role in making what matters better – for our customers, our colleagues and our communities.
It’s a chance to put your skills, experience and instincts to the test: chasing opportunities, finding better ways of working and getting things just right for our customers. You’ll be a role model, helping colleagues to know and love our products and services, getting everyone stuck in with community projects and proving just how much we can achieve together. You’ll get to grow your own team – by spotting talent, making sure your team is trained, and giving them the feedback and support they need to be their best.
We’ll look to you to maximise sales, impact and presentation for your department, while making sure everything is safe and compliant, and everyone’s in the right place at the right time.
This role is what management should be: out of the office and leading from the front – on the store floor with your colleagues and customers.
You’ll be someone who can lead and inspire a team, build loyalty and give customers great service. You’ll need previous management experience and be able to meet targets, provide training and stick to our guidelines.
It’s a role for those who love retail – but above all we need you to put people at the heart of everything you do:
• Talking to colleagues, to share and encourage new ideas and best practice
• Being warm and welcoming, and taking time to recognise and listen to others
• Building a strong team spirit and a network of relationships that stretches beyond the store
And to succeed you’ll have what it takes to be a leader:
• Looking ahead and seizing opportunities
• Acting quickly to do what’s right for colleagues and customers
• Thriving on change and leading people through it together
• Doing the right thing, even if plans aren’t working out
• Knowing how to be at your best – and exceeding expectations
You won’t be in an office. This is a store-based role – and that’s where the action is: where we generate income, prove our value and show the world who we are.
This is a hands-on job where no two days are the same. As a manager you’ll have all eyes on you to make sure everyone is fired up, focused and pulling in the same direction. To help you flourish in such a lively and fast-changing role, we’ve got a well-defined way of working.
It’s a big commitment: as a retailer, you may need to work five days out of seven instore, with shifts to fit opening hours – including some Sundays and Bank Holidays.
But as our managers will tell you, it’s incredibly rewarding – both day-to-day and in terms of the potential for your career with us.
• Your Store Manager
• Your management team colleagues
• Your colleagues
• Your customers
Excited by the chance to lead and develop a team, as well as making a difference? Then this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.
If you share our values, and if you have the qualities we’re looking for, then we’d love to hear from you.
To apply, we’d like you to complete a questionnaire about managing real, everyday retail situations. We’ll then arrange a telephone interview, and from there we can meet up for face-to-face interview and assessment.
