"We’re always working to safeguard our customers’ complete trust in our products and brands"

Nothing is more important to us than the trust of our customers. That is why we have a team of experts who ensure that every Tesco brand product is not only safe, legal and ethically sourced but is also of the great quality and value that our customers expect. Our team of over 1,000 Product Quality colleagues across the world ensure that the sourcing, production and handling of each product meets our stringent policies and standards.

Our team are involved in all stages of a product lifecycle. Our product experts work with our suppliers to ensure that the ingredients and components used to make our own brand products meet our specifications and that the correct production processes and controls are in place. They also make sure that our sourcing practices are responsible and sustainable. Our responsible sourcing team ensure conditions are right for those working in our supply chain.

Our team of scientists and regulatory specialists are there to ensure that the products are safe and meet all legislative requirements. They run a robust testing regime which examines the chemical and microbiological integrity of the product including checks to ensure that what’s on the label is in the pack.

No product gets on to our shelves unless it has our customers’ seal of approval through the customer testing programme run by our quality measurement team. And once we agree that a product is good enough to put on sale our health & safety and environmental health colleagues ensure that it is handled with care and that the safety and quality is protected within our distribution network and stores.

It does not stop there. Customer insight and feedback are used to refine our offer and bring new, innovative products to market. Our food academy and product development specialists are always on the look-out for great ideas to create something different for our customers. Together we are working hard to lead the way on quality, innovation and responsible sourcing to ensure that we ‘serve Britain’s shoppers a little better every day’.

We are a truly cross-functional organisation and interact with colleagues in buying, retail, distribution, property, marketing, and customer services, legal and corporate affairs. In addition to our work with our supply chain partners we also have a range of external stakeholders from industry associations and universities to regulators.

As well as the relevant qualifications, skill base and experience, we want you to have a real can-do attitude, excellent people skills and the ability to build strong relationships.

Many of our roles include an advisory or cross-functional element, so it’s vital that you can manage a complex situation, gather key facts quickly, remain calm under pressure and be decisive.
