Step into a Tesco store, and it's pretty obvious we're serious about expanding our non-food range. That means an even bigger choice of everything from flat screen TVs to wooden train sets - not to mention just about everything else in between.

The growth in hardlines

It's no secret that our non-food business in the UK is growing incredibly fast - at over 13% a year. When you consider that the retail market is relatively flat at the moment, that's quite an achievement.

Customers really like the prices, quality and variety of our non-food range. In fact, more and more people are choosing to buy not just their household essentials from Tesco, but expensive items too - like clothing, MP3 players, fridges and sports equipment.

Where next?

Despite the fact we're already big, there's plenty of scope for more success. In fact, we only have around 7% of the UK's non-food expenditure... while a quarter of UK households can easily get to one of our 118 Extra stores.
