Warehouse Team Manager
Joined Tesco: September 2001
I wanted to work for company that would offer me a career rather than just a job. And I can tell you that I've certainly not been disappointed.
I started with Tesco as Team Manager in Transport when the Thurrock Distribution Centre was first set up six years ago. I switched over to the Scheduling team a year later and at that point I was planning about 2million cases of deliveries every week. Before moving across to my current role at Welham Green, I also managed to squeeze in a six-month secondment back at the Transport Department, where I helped to revamp their data capture processes, transport costing, planning and report generation.
As you can see, I've moved around quite a lot in the time I've been here. I've worked in a number of different roles and I've relished each new challenge. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that the new challenges each day brings are my favourite thing about working here. That and the fact that I get to work closely with some really great people.
Tesco is a really dynamic organisation and with that comes a degree of competitiveness. But at the same time there's a fantastic atmosphere - everyone is really friendly, supportive and eager to help out whenever they can.
The resources available for personal and professional development are pretty impressive too. There have been numerous good and well-planned training and development programs that I've benefited from since joining Tesco and each one has helped me tremendously in my career development.
