Our Structure
You might have already noticed that Tesco looks pretty big. You'll find the same scale in our corporate and legal team, with a wide range of specialisms:
Corporate governance - assurances to shareholders that Tesco is being managed effectively to achieve our strategy.
Community plan and corporate responsibility - a remit which covers everything from reducing our carbon footprint to getting more local suppliers' products on our shelves.
Government affairs - working with central Government and the EU on legislation that may impact our business. (Want an example? We're working with Defra on how to raise public awareness of climate change and how we can make a difference as individuals, consumers and communities.)
Insurable risk - works with all areas of the business to reduce the number and costs of any claims.
Internal communications - keeping staff up-to-date.
International - a broad-ranging team, covering international subsidiaries from Ireland to Japan.
Investor relations liaising with the City and communicating with analysts and investors.
Legal services - a small team of in-house specialists who work across the business on legal matters.
Licensing team - making sure all stores have liquor licences and are operating legally.
Pension scheme - managing fund of approximately £3bn, on behalf of 150,000 employed.
Pharmacy team - make sure our pharmacies operate safely, legally and ethically.
Press department - tells the world about how hard we're working for customers and communities.
Property PR - liaising with politicians and communities to support our property development programme.
Statutory Compliance - making sure we comply with the very strict requirements imposed upon us.
