Our managers shine at night

Take a look at what some of our brightest stars have to say about Night Management at Tesco.

Abdul Aziz Sallah
Night Manager

"I joined Tesco as a part-time Grocery Customer Assistant, on a Twilight shift in Brent Park. Throughout my career I've always been encouraged and supported by my managers to develop and that's why I'm now the Night Manager here in Loudwater.

I've learnt a lot over the years because Tesco is such a diverse company to work for. Basically, I'd say there are huge opportunities here for everyone who wants to reach out and grab them. Of course, I've had to be very flexible as every night is different and you never know what to expect working during the evening. It's challenging and interesting at the same time and it's taught me to be patient and always remain positive in order to achieve results.

I've currently got my sights set on a Group role, as Group Night Manager. I can't imagine working for another company and intend to stay for as long as possible!"

Mark Stuart Holt
Fresh Food Night Manager

"First of all, I applied for a night time Customer Assistant role because it fitted in well with my family commitments and that's how I found myself working in the meat and poultry department. I then went on to Produce, where my manager got me signed on to what they call the 'Options' programme. After completing my development programme I was pleased to be appointed as the Fresh Food Night Manager.

In order to get on even further, I've recently been work shadowing my Line Manager. Because I'm keen to develop my career I've also signed on to 'Options' again as it will help and support me to become a Night Manager in the future.

I enjoy the fast-paced environment here and the sheer variety you get working during the evening. Literally, no two nights are the same. There are also great development opportunities if you want them and I thoroughly enjoy the team spirit."
