Where do you fit in? UK Support Office

Making changes across more than a thousand stores to make shopping better, simpler and cheaper for our customers is no easy task. But because at Tesco we pull it off day in and day out we're the UK's leading retailer.

The role of the Support Office is to stay in touch with each and every store and support our 250,000 strong workforce to make the changes that deliver our 'Every Little Helps' promises.

In a nutshell that's shopping trips for our customers where the aisles are clear, they can get what they want, the prices are good, the staff are great and there are no queues.

The Support Office provides opportunities to get involved in a range of activities such as:

  • Helping a new store prepare for opening day
  • Launching a new clothing range
  • Producing training to help staff give warm and friendly service to customers
  • Making sure our cafes and restaurants comply with health and safety requirements
  • Being part of a helpdesk that answers up to 16,000 calls very week from stores.
  • Writing simple and engaging communications that help staff do their jobs.
  • Making sure Store Managers' time is used effectively

Whether it's clear and simple information, easy-to-follow procedures or operational advice, the Support Office is on hand to help with every aspect of the store operation.

In fact, many of our people have worked in Tesco stores so have first hand experience of running our shops. Others bring expert skills and experience in communications, project planning and human resources.

The one thing they all have in common is their dedication to help stores get it right first time. And because we never take our eye off the ball and we're always thinking of ways to improve, our stores can get on with delivering a great service for customers.
