Solution Architect

Our in-house IT team are constantly putting their heads together and creating time-saving, money-saving and energy-saving (you name it, they’ve done it) products. From innovative sales forecasting and replenishment tools, to thermal queue cameras, our award winning work is making customers’ lives that little bit easier every day. About the role

You’ll help to create and maintain global application, information and technical enterprise roadmaps, and their associated standards. We’ll look to you to work with Solution Architects and our business teams to ensure that solutions are effective and in compliance with our overall IT architecture strategy and domain standards.

An important part of your role will be to track industry trends, contribute to feasibility studies and participate in reviews. When necessary, you’ll escalate any outstanding issues or problems to our Senior Enterprise Architect. We’ll also expect you to help develop exception resolution plans.

We have two vacancies within our Infrastructure Architecture team. The successful candidates must have worked in an international blue chip organisation.

The following skills are required split across the two roles. A successful candidate must have excellent skills in at least two of these areas i.e. items 1 and 3.

Current Aix and Linux operating systems and the associated hardware. Grid and any other scalability solutions.

Oracle infrastructure solutions and application servers. Oracle retail experience would be beneficial.

Storage solutions to include SAN, NAS, archiving and backup. Must have EMC skills and preferably one other i.e. IBM. Must have a detailed understanding of the associated infrastructure components.

The build, deployment and management of Microsoft clients and their associated hardware i.e Desktops, laptops and printers."

Candidate Profile

First the basics. To succeed, you must combine a degree level (2:1) qualification or equivalent with a sound level of technical programming expertise. You’ll need a logical approach to problem solving, and the ability to constructively review solutions proposed by our development teams.

experiencing of interpreting business operating models into systems, strategies and solutions

experience architecting innovative solutions.

experience of making architectural decisions and working through the trade offs.

experience of working in a virtual team environment and leading through influencing and persuading.

project management skills.

detailed knowledge technology trends for their technical domain.

advises and liaises with business users and enterprise architects.
