UK Hardlines - Trade Planner - Direct

Tesco is a great place to work - whether you're planning the layouts of our aisles, sourcing products in Thailand or improving our supply chain in Turkey.

We have become a market leader by doing the little things that really matter for our customers and staff.

We believe in treating each other with respect, giving everyone an equal opportunity to get on.

It's our people that make the difference every day - helping us create value for our customers and earning their loyalty for life.

Job Specification:

We are presenting the opportunity for a Trade Planner to join our Direct team.

Your role will be to work with Senior Merchandisers and Senior Buyers to run an online category business - maximising sales and delivered margin. This means proposing opportunities which will both increase sales and conversion through effective marketing across Direct channels. You will be the main link between the Direct, Non Food Commercial and Media Publishing teams for the category.

Your responsibilities will be to:

Trade the Direct business to maximise sales and delivered margin through pricing, promotions, merchandising and product marketing, using web analytics, online sales data and metrics and minimising markdown/clearance

Ensure Direct is integrated into existing processes and forums within Non Food Commercial (e.g. event planning, TPG, Range sign off)

Improve product and range construction by providing clear guidance and insight to Buying teams

Ensure the product range is profitable at a delivered margin level, and you work with Non Food commercial to constantly improve the delivered margin

Ensure the catalogue and web are well merchandised and market leading, with an optimum customer journey and relevant and accurate product information that satisfies customers needs

Ensure the category will adhere to the critical path deadlines for the catalogue production process

Constantly driving improvements to the web site and catalogue to maximise sales and delivered margin

Have detailed knowledge of the product, market and our competitors to ensure optimum merchandising and trading of product ranges on the website and in the catalogue

Help the category to remain within policy for Price Basket and Clearance

Lead positive relationships and ways of working with Commercial teams, central marketing teams and Media Publishing teams

Ensure all new product launches are right first time (both new season launches and special purchase lines)

Possess online expertise and understanding within the Non Food Commercial teams

Candidate Specification:

The successful individual will have experience working with an online and or catalogue/direct Non Food Retail business.

You will have an understanding of building product ranges and managing trade plans along with a wide range of experience with different marketing tools, specifically Direct channels.

You will be an organised and inspiring people manager who can demonstrate a strong sense of teamwork and ownership.
