Jenna - Regional Training Manager - Tesco

Job Profile: Jenna

Regional Training Manager

Achieved ten GCSEs and four A-Levels – in Psychology, Business Studies, German and English. Went on to Swansea University to study Law.

After achieving my degree in Law, I had a part-time job at Tesco. I enjoyed it so much, I stayed on and decided to start the Trainee Management Options Programme because the opportunities for progression looked so promising. After six months, I'd completed the programme and was asked whether I'd like to apply for the role of Regional Training Manager. That's what I'm doing right now.

“Everyone has taken a genuine interest”

I suppose the biggest challenge of my career has been settling into this role in such a short space of time – but the support I've had has been fantastic. It's been second to none really, since I began the programme. From people working on the shop floor up to the more senior managers, everyone has taken a genuine interest in my development. The training has been brilliant and because it's funded from outside of the store it meant that I was given the time and space I needed to develop properly.

“Push for development”

Having been to university, I can honestly say that I wish I'd done this programme first. The job security I now have is good – especially with the rate that our business is expanding. And the benefit and share schemes that Tesco offers are a great incentive to achieve even more. If I was to offer someone advice about this programme I would say you can be as good as you want to be. Push for the development and training on offer and make the most of it.
