About The Job

About The Online Analytics Team

The successful applicant will join the Analytics and Optimisation team, which sits within the Online Product department, looking after Tesco’s online properties. The Analytics and Optimisation team is responsible for providing insight and learning to the wider Product, Trading, UX, and Commercial teams to help drive decision making based on business requirements.

The Data & BI Team, facilitate the Online Analytics team, providing best practices and owning the process to source, validate and visualise data. Build a self-serve mentality within the team by providing reliable and accessible data and dashboards.

Main Responsibilities

The Role Business Intelligence Analyst

Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business, the following provides an overview of the role’s key responsibilities and measures:

  • Establishing, developing and maintaining self-service business intelligence tool in Online, including end-to-end BI implementation.
  • Automating regular reporting to improve visibility of the reports and the data.
  • Ensuring data quality and integrity by working on Data Warehouse and Analytics projects.
  • Analysing the existing Online processes related to data-driven decision making; to map business reporting requirements to self-service business intelligence solutions.
  • Supporting Online teams with different needs by creating regular business reports and interactive dashboards for a range of products and markets.
  • Empowering teams to use self-service business intelligence tool to get the most of performance reviews and business insights.
  • Be a key stakeholder for analytics and business teams on the systems, tools and best practices used.
  • Working closely with the core analytics teams to share best practices and insights.
  • Liaise with India based Data & BI colleagues to induct and automate additional sources of data to enrich self-serve dashboards.
  • This role will best suit an individual who enjoys working as part of a team, is well organised, pragmatic and a lateral thinker with an inquisitive mind who is motivated to make change for the better and, most importantly, puts our customers first.

Ideal Candidate

You’ll need to have demonstrated experience of:

  • University degree of 2:1 or higher in a quantitative discipline or relevant experience
  • Experience of being the owner and champion of digital analytics tools (ideally Adobe Analytics)
  • Experience of customer behavioural segmentation / statistical modelling techniques (eg. clustering and regression)
  • Managing change in a dynamic environment
  • Proficient in SQL
  • Manipulating, analysing and synthesising data using different sources
  • Communication and presentation skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Managing and influencing cross functional stakeholders
  • Business intelligence and visualisation tools (Tableau, MicroStrategy)

  • Able to build solid working relationships with peers and senior leadership
  • Ability to demonstrate strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills to all levels of seniority and disciplines within the organisation.
