About the role

As a Jack’s Assistant Store Manager you will be responsible for leading the daily operation of the store, enjoy creating an inspiring working environment which is safe & legal for your colleagues and customers, by living our values and commitments. This role is all about delivering an excellent shopping experience for your customers through great service, store standards and availability. We’d love you to represent your store within the local community and be an ambassador of our Jack’s Brand, ensuring our colleagues become advocates and that our customers receive excellent customer service with a smile.

Being flexible with your working pattern is essential. We’re looking for people who are happy to roll their sleeves up and work together in a small team.

You will be responsible for

  • Delivering excellent customer service for your store, through role modelling, training and recognition whilst making decisions with customers’ best interests at heart
  • Effectively communicating information to your colleagues and developing the Jack’s culture through our Colleague Commitments.
  • Contributing to the delivery of all KPI’s and drive the sales opportunities and minimise loss within your store
  • Promoting a culture of Health & Safety within your store and adhere to legal compliance through the Health and Safety policy
  • Driving a culture of reducing food waste, managing date codes and making sure no food suitable for human consumption goes to waste
  • Deputising for the Store Manager when required

You will need

You’ll be at the heart of our store and our customer experience, so you’ll need to:

  • Get stuck in and take responsibility for getting things done across every area of the store
  • Make quick and effective decisions with both customers and the stores operation in mind.
  • Share your ideas and take time to listen to each other
  • Be a brand advocate and proud of our products

Be over 18 years of age as this role involves working in Beers Wines & Spirits and receiving goods at the backdoor.

In 1919, Tesco’s founder Jack Cohen, fresh from serving in the Royal Flying Corps in World War I, took his £30 demob money and bought armed forces surplus stock to sell on his stall in Hackney, East London.
