About the role

The Fresh Supply Chain Team facilitates the flow of information from suppliers/buyers to store ordering ensuring that the amount of stock ordered matches the store demand.

We work with Tesco systems, internal teams and Suppliers to plan, forecast and order the correct level of stock for our stores at the right time to minimise waste and gaps and ultimately deliver fantastic in store availability for our customers.  We work with over 480 Suppliers, managing over 7800 products to provide a 3rd of the UK population with its Fresh Food.

You will be responsible for

Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business, the following provides an overview of the role’s key responsibilities and measures:

  • Developing and Forecasting the seasonal plans with Suppliers  to manage the flow of stock through the supply chain
  • Contributing to the sourcing strategy with the Product and Technical teams
  • Working with suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver the right stock at the right time in the right place as well as communicating changes to plans to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Managing stock movement into depots to deliver service level targets
  • Forecasting for promotions and events and communicating to suppliers  to optimise sales and minimise waste
  • Identifying opportunities for improving ways of working on your category and working with your key suppliers to implement improvements through joint supply chain plans 
  • Controlling stock at service providers to reduce waste in the supply chain
  • Working with store ordering team and systems to improve availability and reduce waste
  • Working on the projects with Category Product & Supply Chain Transformation teams and suppliers to reduce costs 
  • Leading and supporting Supply Planners (WL1) in your team to deliver their KP'Is
  • Developing and leading a high performing team, giving them the opportunities to be their best

This role will best suit an individual who enjoys working as part of a team, is well organised, pragmatic and a lateral thinker with an inquisitive mind who is motivated to make change for the better and, most importantly, puts our customers first.

You will need

You’ll need to have demonstrated experience of:

  • Forecasting
  • Planning
  • Communication (Internal and External)
  • Data Analysis
  • Supply Chain
  • Understanding of the end to end movement of product through to the shelf edge
  • Managing 3rd party supplier relationships
  • People Management
  • Tesco Ordering systems - LM
  • Data Warehouse – SQL
  • Microsoft Excel


  • Flexibility, ability to plan and organise, responsiveness, creativity, self-starter 
  • Able to build solid working relationships with peers and senior leadership
  • Ability to demonstrate strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills to all levels of seniority and disciplines within the organisation
