About the role

The Investor Relations team manages the relationship and communications between Tesco and its owners.  We help preserve the ability of the business to pursue its strategy. This is an integral role to managing our investor and analyst communications programme on behalf of our CEO, CFO and Group Investor Relations Director to build long term investor and analyst support.

The role involves some independent objectives as well as delivering work as part of the broader team.

You will be responsible for

  • Liaising with other finance colleagues to investigate issues raised by investors and analysts 
  • Reviewing analyst and investor models and identifying areas of interest
  • Reviewing and summarising published analyst research for senior stakeholder consumption
  • Results Process:
    • Present initial draft of the press release, owning verification and accuracy of numbers
    • Collaborating with the Group Finance team on the disclosure process 
    • Overseeing the collation and analysis of information to support results materials
  • Leading the market consensus process and review (including direct contact with analysts)
  • Supporting the Senior Investor Relations Manager with ad hoc activity
  • Managing the IR team head office costs, including American Depository Receipt income (and the associated supplier relationship)
  • Communicating market sentiment to internal stakeholders including supporting the preparation of Board papers, summarising analyst notes and weekly market update for our CEO and CFO 
  • Coaching and developing a 3rd Year Finance Graduate within the Investor Relations team

You will need

  • A Professional finance qualification 
  • Experience of working with non-financial stakeholders would be preferred
  • Previous experience of working to tight deadlines
  • Experience of collaborating effectively with colleagues across an organisation (often at more senior work levels)
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • An analytical mind
  • Ability to be a self-starter, willing to find the right solution or person to help with queries
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to be flexible and a strong team player
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
