About Supply Chain Development - Ordering

Are you a Technology Product Manager looking for an exciting opportunity to improve the way we flow hundreds of millions of products from farms and factories to our millions of customers each and every day?

This role is within a team responsible for designing and delivering improvements to Tesco’s store ordering systems and processes. Deciding how and when to deliver extra stock to our stores is critical for ensuring we maintain great availability for customers while keeping operating costs under control and our automated systems enable us to carefully manage the supply chain.

You will be responsible for

Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business, the following provides an overview of the role’s key responsibilities and measures: 

  • Formulate the vision for the products you own and work with our analytical team to align this with the strategic priorities of the business
  • Provide subject matter expertise to guide design decisions for system developments, ensuring timely delivery of business benefits
  • Provide leadership and guidance to continuously improve the product management practice within your domain
  • Manage the roadmap and development plan, coordinating input from Technology teams, Supply Chain Operations and Development colleagues and others across the business
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence

This role will best suit an individual who enjoys working as part of a team, is well organised, pragmatic and a lateral thinker with an inquisitive mind who is motivated to make change for the better and, most importantly, puts our customers first

You will need

You’ll need to have demonstrated experience of:

  • Solid technical understanding; being comfortable having technical conversations, understanding the possibilities of online technologies and knowing when to challenge and ask questions
  • End to End Product Ownership; working across the full lifecycle of software development - define, design, develop and deliver. These will have ideally been in a mainframe/retail environment
  • You will be a natural planner; looking ahead, raising issues, providing solutions and meeting deadlines
  • The successful candidate will have a tenacious can-do mentality. Whilst being personally robust and willing to challenge the status quo, you will work closely with other team members and must be able to bring people with you.
  • Creative, analytical and pragmatic - you will be able to provide recommendations and make decisions on behalf of the customer and business.
