About the role

You will source and buy great quality products for my customers at the best price. You will lead and develop my team of Assistant Buyers and Buying Administrators.

You will be responsible for

- Helping my manager to implement the category buying plans to meet category objectives
- Conducting competitor benchmarking, visiting stores/websites to understand how my range compares
- Reviewing existing supplier performance and identify potential new suppliers
- Leading negotiation of departmental supplier terms agreements (incl.returns), improving the trading position in a sustainable way
- Sourcing customer and market insight led products for my department, collaborating with International Sourcing
- Supporting category merchandising colleagues to develop the trade plan
- Identifying new products, creating briefs and supporting new product development processes (incl. packaging)
- Working with suppliers and category quality team to ensure product quality is achieved and maintained
- Managing costs and supporting price setting to deliver product margin, always looking for a great deal and scoop buys for our customers
- Ensuring Commercial Income is loaded and invoiced correctly (incl. periodic forecasting and agreeing)
- Developing and leading a high performing team, giving them the opportunities to be their best
- Forecasting and managing my budgets effectively, always being cost conscious
- Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence

You will need

- Experienced buyer in a international, multichannel setting
- Experienced negotiator
- Product development and sourcing
- Report preparation and analysis

- Negotation
- Influencing and stakeholder management
- Data analysis and numeracy
- MS Office (esp. Excel)

Key teams and people you will work with:

- Sourcing Manager, Merchandise Planning Manager, Category Planning Manager, Web Trading Managers, Customer Proposition Manager, Designer
- Technical Manager
- Suppliers (incl. artwork agencies)

People, budgets and other resources you will be accountable for:

- Buying area sales and margin
- Samples
