About the role

As Head of our Global Controls & Compliance team in Finance, you’ll be reporting into our Global Control Director as part of the Control Centre of Expertise. 
We are looking for someone who is passionate about process & control improvement as you’ll be tasked with shaping, developing and embedding our Key Financial Controls and risk frameworks across our core processes and financial systems. This will include implementing and managing new governance and risk and control (GRC) systems providing assurance over transactional processing and user access; assisting risk owners in mitigating risks; ensuring effective reporting of control information up and down the organisation and setting the standards of internal control and acting as an internal control advocate and thought leader across the markets we operate in. 
You’ll be managing local and remote teams and therefore there’ll be the opportunity for travel.

You will be responsible for

Change Management:
  • Development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Risk and Controls framework.
  • Consulting with Global Process owners on process changes and impact on the Controls framework.
  • Conduct reviews of role designs across the end to end process ensuring appropriate segregation of duties.
  • Create control KPIs to monitor control environment for the end to end process.

Governance, Risk and Control Systems:

  • Implementation of suite of new governance and risk and control (GRC) systems to
    • Investigate and resolve financial transactions for error and fraud
    • Ensure appropriate segregation of duties and access controls and remediate any violations through role design and end user provisioning
    • Record and monitor users self assessment of compliance with the key financial control framework and operational effectiveness of these controls
Control Environment:
  • Implement design and operational effectiveness testing of Key Financial Controls.
  • Ensure appropriate governance of R2R controls and policies including balance sheet policy, journal policy, intercompany policy, integrity of chart of accounts maintenance, key financial control framework not previously governed in one place
  • Ensure IT General Controls aligned with and integrated into financial control framework and appropriate self assessment and testing introduced in conjunction with Technology 2nd line of defence team
  • Liaise with controllers, internal and external auditors to improve monitoring and proactive resolution of audit and self assessment issues and next steps in a timely manner.
  • Preparation of reports on the status of the internal control environment to senior management.
  • Lead Group "2nd line of defence" Finance assurance activities including Key Financial Control Self-Assessment, Risk Management, IT Risk & Controls, Legal Compliance & Security.
  • Support Global Control Director with ad hoc projects/duties as requested driven by continuous improvement, audit and self assessment findings, legal, policy and framework developments etc

You will need

  • Experience of internal controls implementation and design improvement.
  • Expert knowledge of controls and risk.
  • Expert knowledge of segregation of duties and sensitive data access principles.
  • Knowledge of core financial end to end processes - example R2R, C2C and P2P.
  • Knowledge of auditing concepts and principles.
  • Understanding of IT General Controls
  • Knowledge of Reporting and Corporate Governance. Strong communication skills to include report writing, presentation, influencing and relational skills.
  • Ability to manage teams across multiple locations
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and training to end users.
  • Professional Finance Qualification
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject.
