About Centre of Expertise (COE) Capability Team

The COE Capability team are an innovative and experienced team, together we build world class learning to ensure our colleagues across the group develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours to be the best they can be.  Our purpose is to ensure we equip Tesco with the skills it needs for now and in the future whilst also ensuring our colleagues serve our customers a little better every day. 

This role is predominantly focused on designing and delivering a leading edge senior leadership offer fit for the group – ensuring we drive the right leadership for now and the future.  

It will entail strong stakeholder management, a comprehensive understanding of the end to end learning cycle and a passion for enabling people to fulfil their potential and grow their capability. The successful candidate will be an experienced self-starter with a track record for designing innovative learning solutions in a COE setting. 

You will be responsible for

Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business, the following provides an overview of the role’s key responsibilities and measures.  

• Designing and curating a senior leadership development offer for the Tesco Group 

• Working collaboratively with the Talent COE to ensure our offer is building a strong and diverse pipeline of talent 

• Ensuring all learning solutions are world class and provide colleagues with the best possible learning experience

• Evaluating learning initiatives to measure the return on investment to colleagues, customers and the business

• Partnering with one of our global markets to ensure we embed our core Group Learning offer consistently, whilst meeting the specific needs of their business function 

• Acting as the subject matter expert for the Group leadership development offer and point of reference for capability colleagues to support them in embedding leadership development across their market partnerships

• Consulting / partnering with capability colleagues and subject matter experts to build effective learning solutions that complement our core offer

• Championing and role modelling all leadership behaviours and management skills

• Actively contributing to a culture of learning at Tesco

• Sourcing new partners and managing existing relationships with external partners ensuring all partnerships deliver value for money

• Maintaining expertise and continued professional development

• Being agile and responsive to the changing needs of the business and colleagues we serve

You will need

You’ll need to have demonstrated experience of:

• Full knowledge of the end to end training cycle

• Excellent learning design skills (pitched particularly at senior leaders)

• Strong training delivery and facilitation to senior leaders and directors

• Excellent consulting skills

• Strong commercial acumen

• Able to effectively plan and organise, be responsive, creative and a self-starter

• Able to present information and data to a senior audience

• Strong communication and presentation skills to all levels of seniority and disciplines within the organisation

• Digital learning design

• Striving for continuous improvement, finding better ways of doing things

• Being responsive to driving effective change

• Innovation and pragmatism, examples of creative solutions that really work

• Senior stakeholder management, in particular building trusted relationships with a diverse group of international stakeholders

• Cultural awareness

In addition, you will:

• Be able to demonstrate knowledge of latest learning trends and how people learn

• Follow our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence
