About the role

The Analytics Capabilities & Optimisation team is a team of Product Management, Data Analysts, BI experts and Analytics Engineers. It is responsible for defining, prioritising and delivering the self-serve analytics strategy, event streaming and optimisation capability, methods and components for enabling real-time, data-driven decision making and customer data insight across all of Tesco’s businesses. It accelerates the self-serve delivery of ad-hoc insight from customer data and enhances the value of our analysis to the business and customers. It connects the customer analytics and insight innovation needs of Tesco’s businesses to our core data platform, tools and services.

You will be responsible for

Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business, the following provides an overview of the role’s key responsibilities and measures:

  • Collaboration with Product, Development, Content, Marketing teams to collect business requirements and translate into effective tracking requirements.
  • To design solution design reference to meet key business requirements.
  • Installation and configuration of analytics tracking code.
  • Collaborate with the development team to implement required tracking, including DTM changes.
  • Follow a data quality assurance process, including implementation, measurement and user acceptance testing.
  • Transfer knowledge of the business processes and requirements to the development teams.
  • This role will best suit an individual who enjoys working as part of a team, is well organised, pragmatic and a lateral thinker with an inquisitive mind who is motivated to make change for the better and, most importantly, puts our customers first.

You will need

You’ll need to have demonstrated experience of:

  • Highly numerate with a University degree of 2:1 or higher in a quantitative discipline or relevant experience.
  • Considerable digital experience working on implementations of Adobe Analytics or digital analytics toolsets.
  • Experience with Javascript, data layer implementation and Tag Management technologies.
  • Prior experience of using Adobe Analytics / Web Analytics tools to meet business objectives.
  • Experience using analytical or business intelligence tools.
  • Strong understanding of digital analytics industry, tools and working practices.
  • Ability to communicate with people of different skills and levels.


  • Flexibility, ability to plan and organise, responsiveness, creativity, self-starter. 
  • Able to build solid working relationships with peers and senior leadership.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills to all levels of seniority and disciplines within the organisation.
