The Head of Global Sourcing reports to the Group Procurement Director (CPO) and it’s the most critical role within the Group Procurement Committee. The Head of Global Sourcing will sit at the centre of everything we do in GSNFR Procurement in terms of purchasing goods and services and will drive our sourcing strategy with suppliers. The Head of Global Sourcing plays a crucial role in the delivery of the £500M program.
Has overall responsibility for a) Defining sourcing strategies across categories of spend b) Negotiate and define global agreements and structures with suppliers in support of the whole of Tesco globally c) Initiate, conduct and deliver specific tender, negotiations or projects for the acquisition of goods and services not for resale d) Manage all suppliers across categories with a specific focus on key strategic suppliers of relevance and/or importance for the group.
• Spearhead cross-business unit sourcing initiatives with the goal of driving collaboration across business units and identifying opportunities for savings and increased efficiency
• Drive Procurement teams through a structure governance of regular update meetings and workshops
• Implement a category management program
• Builds credibility with internal stakeholders to ensure the adoption of enterprise-wide collaboration in sourcing and procurement. Ensures interaction amongst business units to understand operational needs, while providing strategic thought leadership with internal stakeholders
• Interfaces actively with procurement, operations and finance executives across the various operating companies
• Show continuous year over year improvement of category addressable spend (specifically and most immediately contributing to the £500M three-year GSNFR cost reduction program)
• Stays abreast of relevant economic, industry, supply market, and business conditions. Updates strategy accordingly and acts to assure the adequate and competitive supply of critical products and services to support ongoing business and new initiatives
• Together with the Head of Procurement Strategy & Delivery, ensures supplier performance management systems are in place and actively reviewed
• In alignment with the Head of Procurement Operations, set the direction, tone, and operating procedures that govern purchasing to assure compliance with laws, internal controls, financial terms and to manage risk associated with third-party relationships and supply
• Manages a central procurement team of global buyers in Tesco Head office as well as functionally managing buying teams across Central Europe, Asia and India
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Supply Chain Management
• Senior level experience in purchasing, sourcing and supply chain
• Extensive experience in managing and motivating large teams. Significant experience in executive communication and building consensus across groups
• Ability to motivate others to a high level of performance and navigate across a large organization using influence to build relationships with customer organization
