About the role

This is an exciting time to join our Programme Management Office here at Tesco as we enter a period of change and transformation.

We are currently recruiting a Governance and Assurance Manager who will supply expertise and support on programme governance and audit and assurance tracking of deliverables.

You will form part of a small and dedicated team of individuals where your role will be critical to the success of the PMO function and Programme overall.

Based at our Head Office in Welwyn Garden City, some flexibility regarding travel will be required and home working is available. 

You will be responsible for

  • Working with the Programme Manager to manage and control the programme scope, budget and quality
  • Acts as focal point for all programme governance related information:
    • Maintenance of Programme Governance structures including terms of reference for key meetings.
    • Secretariat for Steering Committee and Programme Delivery Board (working closely with Head of PMO)
    • Tracking of assurance activities on the programme and point of contact with Audit
  • Develop and maintain the mechanism to ensure all reporting can be summarised to a programme level
  • Working collaboratively with PMO colleagues to ensure alignment across:
    • Planning and controls
    • Status reporting, risks and issues (and any escalations)
    • Financial controls and status
    • Benefits realisation tracking
  • Communication related to PMO processes in scope of the role
  • Ensure deliverables progress through the proper reviews (Quality Gates) in a timely manner as defined in the plan
  • Point of contact with Tesco Central Strategic Business Planning function to ensure alignment and development of change standards where possible

 

You will need

 

  • Experience in the establishment and / operation of a programme based PMO function
  • Solid understanding of PMO process, standards and governance; experience of operational management within a PMO function
  • Experience of planning and co-ordinating major transformational programmes involving Human Resources technology change (preferably Oracle, SAP, Workday)
  • Experience of driving change using delivery methodologies
  • Experience of working for/in a retail organisation
  • Experience of working in a HR or People function within a global organisation
  • Exposure to Agile development environments
  • Proven track record of working and liaising effectively with business users at all levels of seniority and influencing in a matrix structure
  • Strong presentation skills with the gravitas and presence to work with senior stakeholders
  • Holder of a recognised programme or project management accreditation 
  • Good knowledge and user of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Powerpoint
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint, Teams and other collaboration tools
  • Good attention to detail and comfortable working with large amounts of data and juggling priorities
  • Results-oriented and customer-focused, able to interact and communicate at all levels
