About the role

The insight team’s mission is to influence Tesco to make confident decisions because we understand Customers and Colleagues better than anyone. Our key priorities are setting the customer agenda, commercialising insight, business partnering internally and externally, storytelling and democratising insight.

In this role you will use a breadth of insight expertise and experience to design, build, embed and evolve an inspiring programme that directly develops our Insight skills and capabilities within the team, with our stakeholders within Tesco and our agency partners.

You will be responsible for

  • Identifying the breadth of skills required within a world class Insight team and assessing how well we are currently meeting them through gathering feedback from internal stakeholders and external sources benchmarks
  • Building a programme of activity to close out the gaps identified
  • Developing and curating an accessible library of development sources and case studies to meet current and future needs of the team across research, analysis and partnering disciplines
  • Keep our understanding of customers alive by bringing ongoing listening together with our strategic customer segmentation framework and implementing new content as new tools are developed by partnering with the wider team on key projects
  • Supporting the education of the wider business of our customers by leading our closeness and democratisation of Insight processes and events, identifying measures of success, seeking feedback and ensuring they are continuously improving and meeting the needs of the team and the business
  • Partner across the wider insight teams, partner agencies, data teams and across our markets to bring together one joined up approach to insight capabilities, upskilling and best practice
  • Building training and induction materials covering our Insight data, research and analytical capabilities and toolkits and our approach to recruitment to support the wider team
  • Championing customer understanding within the team and across the business

You will need

  • Significant experience in Insight roles (either analytics or research) demonstrating ability to land insights that drive a positive change in business decisions and performance.
  • Experience in insight, strategy or commercial roles in a fast moving, customer facing industry.
  • Consulting skill-set, creative and structured problem solving, issue resolution, stakeholder engagement, commercial acumen, influence.
