About the role

Tesco have recently launched a new people management system, and this role will be critical to ensuring the effective management and maintenance of people processes.

Working as part of a small professional team, you will be responsible for modelling, documenting, analysing and designing our people management processes. Using industry leading software and technology, you will be at the heart of setting the global design for how Tesco people operates.

As a People Business Process Manager, the successful applicant will own and maintain the processes, working alongside the Global Process Owner (GPO) as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to drive the effective management of people processes within Tesco Group. 

You will be expected to actively seek opportunities to innovate and source best practices to develop the processes through collaboration with business SME’s and technology application architects to ensure that the process is effectively operated and enabled by technology.

Key Activities:

  • Lead the development of People Process projects to realise the key capability requirements of the future operating model.
  • Ensures that the Tesco Service Model is up to date and accurately reflects the true nature and needs of the business
  • Work with Process Owners to define performance metrics for processes and service delivery (cycle time, cost, capacity etc.) and their targets
  • Monitor performance of processes, intervening accordingly to improve performance by proposing changes or enhancements in collaboration with Process Owners and technology colleagues.
  • Work in collaboration with process project sponsors and Process Owners to ensure shared ownership for the delivery of project outcomes; in particular with business owners and Finance to ensure capability outcomes and financial reporting of project benefits
  • Lead complex cross-People functional process change into the organisation through the application of ‘best in class’ project, programme and change management
  • Own senior stakeholder relationships and engage the business more broadly with communications
  • Partner with training and people teams to create and maintain effective communications for projects, including any new and existing process, policy and procedures
  • Develop knowledge management that can effectively support the business
  • Establish and sustain an effective process and risk governance framework to ensure the appropriate level of oversight and control is in place across activities
  • Co-ordinate the definition and delivery of detailed business requirements through collaboration with the business, Product Managers, Technology, outsource providers and other 3rd parties
  • Act as a brand ambassador for the People Transformation Programme and play an active role in positively shaping how business change capabilities are perceived by the wider business
  • Owns the process end to end and ensures integration with other domains, technology and data
  • Forms part of the design authority that governs any changes to process and technology
  • Defines key projects and initiatives that support the business in improving process and achieving strategic goals, working closely with release teams through phased common change release frameworks.
  • Supports (Oracle Fusion) Technology user forums and influences future product roadmap and upcoming quarterly upgrades in line with Tesco’s improvement requirements
  • Defines key data structures and governance required to support the business process
  • Reviews existing process for compliance, issues and potential innovation opportunities
  • Actively gather and apply external best practices, opportunities for innovation and understand the impact of external requirements on relevant policy, procedures, processes and technology for the people function
  • Explore innovation opportunities via deployment of RPA, AI & Robotics, working closely with Continuous Improvement SMEs in Tesco Business Services and Technology.
