Finance Manager - Controls (6month FTC)

About the role

Reporting to the UK Regional Controller, this role will be within the UK control team, responsible for the reporting of all UK trading companies, including retail and property entities.

The successful candidate will be comfortable balancing big picture thinking and detailed analysis, drawing on information and corroboration from teams across Tesco. An ability to review, prioritise and problem solve will be integral to this role.

You will be responsible for

  • Managing the period end accounting for certain property subsidiaries incorporating rental income and expense, management fees and depreciation.
  • Review of statutory accounts for certain property subsidiaries.
  • Simplify, rationalise and reconcile all supporting schedules.
  • Establishing and documenting standard processes for all subsidiaries.
  • Working with Property and Technology teams and Tesco Business Services (TBS) to automate manual journals.
  • Coaching and training for TBS teams on management of property subsidiaries.

You will need

  • Proactive problem-solving attitude, with a desire to deliver continuous improvement.
  • Professional finance qualification, with a broad technical understanding and a willingness to learn.
  • Strong communication skills; being able to understand and consolidate ideas quickly and document processes and issues concisely.
  • Ability to manage own time effectively.
  • Able to build strong working relationships and influence others, both internally and externally.
