About the role

As we enter the next phase of our growth strategy, we are looking to recruit an experienced Acquisition Manager. This is an exciting time for the property team here at Tesco, where you will be joining an established retail brand with financial strength and ambitious growth plans for the future. 

You will be responsible for leading this growth strategy from the front by supporting our extension and new Express opening programmes, complimenting our long term plans overall.

You will be responsible for

  • Managing budgets effectively, spending capital thoughtfully, always being cost conscious
  • Regularly reporting on the local market conditions and competitor activity.
  • Record the progress of opportunities considered and provide feedback on pipeline of sites
  • Identify, appraise and negotiate new site acquisitions, operating closely with your team to ensure an efficient acquisition process and the best possible scheme.
  • Build on the established relationships with external consultants to help achieve targets
  • Progress planning applications for approved sites taking particular account of public relations
  • Progress business approval for new acquisitions balancing quality and best value acquisitions with our KPIs
  • Negotiate the best and most flexible contracts which minimises risk to the business and deliver sites on time and within budget.
  • Contributing in improving our Health & Safety culture/awareness as a team through open discussion, joint problem-solving and promoting good safety standards in line with business expectations

You will need

The successful candidate will be a property professional, with an extensive property acquisition or development background, with a solid understanding of the commercial property market. 

You will be used to working in an ever changing, results driven environment with a high degree of autonomy. A property Degree or relevant qualification would be desirable, together with previous experience in the retail sector.
