About the role

This role will lead, shape and identify commercial opportunities across our Promotions Framework and strategy that will support Tesco in improving its core business.

You will be responsible for

  • Develop strong relationships with Category Buying teams to help understand issues with internal and external processes and tools which support promotions and develop relevant improvement plans  
  • Provide valuable data, science and insight to the Category Buying teams to drive and execute the optimum promotions plan/strategy, delivering great offers for customers first and driving sales and margin benefit to Tesco
  • Co-develop and sponsor new Promotion tools and techniques which improve the efficiency of the promotions planning process and decision making across the Category Buying areas we support
  • Share promotions best practice across Category teams so we are always raising the bar with Promotions strategy,  development and execution
  • Support and respond to ad hoc challenges relating to Promotions ensuring we are driving plans to deliver positive profitability, sales and volume performance metrics across all our channels
  • Manage the relationship and key workplan for Dunnhumby to ensure we have the most efficient and effective tools and data science to support the team in driving Promotions strategy 
  • Deliver compelling and insight led performance packs to support Promotions activity that engages colleagues and senior leader audiences with the key Promotions activities and plans
  • Follow our Business Code of Conduct and always act with integrity and due diligence

You will need

Experience relevant for this job:

  •  Interpret complex data and analytics to drive strategy and recommendations
  • Experience in a commercial facing environment - buying team / promotions planning experience a clear advantage
  • Ability to work cross functionally 
  • Commercial and financial acumen

Operational skills relevant for this job:

  • Advanced Powerpoint Essential
  • Excel Essential
  • Outlook
  • Tableau, Power BI, SQL experience preferable
