About the role

Tesco Customer and Colleague Engagement Centres (CECs) are searching for a Data Development Manager to build the data infrastructure and processes to support the delivery of management information. This information will inform decisions to improve customer experience and the effectiveness of our operations.

You will provide the strategic leadership for the extraction, transformation and loading of data into our CEC reporting systems. This will include carrying out ongoing maintenance and processing tasks, such as connecting, cleansing, verifying and validating data.

Reporting to the Head of Transformation, you will lead the Data Development Team (4 Data Developers based in Dundee), and will be accountable for data development in our Customer and Colleague Engagements Centres based in Dundee, Budapest and Bengaluru.

You will be responsible for

  • Developing and managing the strategic data development roadmap to deliver management information and best data practices for the CECs (Dundee, Budapest, India)
  • Prioritising the requirements and shaping the future strategy of our Data Development
  • Leading the Data Development Team in the delivery of automation and maintenance of data management for the CECs, providing accurate, credible and timely information in a simple, user friendly format
  • Ensuring our data structures are effective and cover all available data sources, implementing tools for effective data extraction, aggregation and reporting:
    • Collection and maintenance of data
    • Query management related to data
    • Analysis of date issues to reduce the frequency of inconsistent data
    • Working across Tesco and 3rd parties to quickly identify data issues as they arise and liaising with relevant teams to resolve
    • Ownership of the quality of data and Data Development Governance
  • Anticipating and understanding user requirements, collaborating across Tesco and our partners to deliver against these requirements; influencing people and communicating technical ideas to non-technical colleagues
  • Working with MI infrastructure to extract accurate & timely data from core systems and data warehouses
  • Being innovative and embracing new technologies to meet the changing needs of Tesco and ensuring the team are challenging their thinking/ actions to deliver the customer service of the future

You will need

You will need:

  • Previous Data Development or Data Analytics management role
  • Passionate about delivering improvements through technology
  • Experience working in and running data development in an agile way
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to inspire confidence from and work closely with key stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills
  • Confident influencing stakeholders and 3rd parties to deliver value in every sprint
  • Developing and presenting business cases to stakeholders
  • Prioritisation and managing resource

You may also have:

  • Technical data development skills (e.g. SQL, Python, Visual basic)
