Tesco Maintenance are currently looking to recruit a qualified Field Welder/Fabricator to work as part of our Mechanical Service Team. At Tesco, our stores and offices couldn’t function without the support of our Maintenance Team. Working closely with the Store Leadership Teams, our Service Technicians deliver preventative and reactive maintenance to minimise equipment breakdown and impact on business, in a prompt and cost effective way.
You will have a Mechanical background and be experienced in field welding using MIG and manual metal arc techniques as a minimum. A mild steel BS coding up to 12mm thickness would be an advantage. There will be a requirement to fabricate and weld sections of steelwork and bracketry as required in order to reduce downtime of critical loading bay assets. Due to the scope of work required previous experience of lifting and handling equipment such as Scissor Lifts, Dock Levellers and Access Gates is desirable.
You will be responsible for
- Carrying out welding and fabrication repairs to mechanical assets located at our stores following Tesco Safe Operating Procedures.
- Responding to maintenance and repair requests using a PDA through a CMMS approach.
- Management of van stock, usage and parts replenishment.
- Communication with the team and the wider business team.
- Working collaboratively with the National Operation Centre.
- Supporting your manager to resolve customer issues.
-NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in relevant discipline
-Demonstrable experience as a field welding capable engineer
-You will be required to complete a cross skilling training program and assessment
-Good communication skills.
-Full UK driving licence
-Experience working in a retail environment is preferable
-Experience of other aspects of engineering maintenance and repair would be an advantage
