About the role

The Head of Workplace & Collaboration is fully accountable to define the global Workplace strategy, design and engineering of Workplace products and solutions and their implementation.

As an effective leader you:

  • are thought as a leader in the Digital Workplace domain who can anticipate demand and changes in trends and plan solutions accordingly.
  • link strategic thinking with flawless delivery and ensure that we deliver modern and cost-effective Workplace and Collaboration Tools to our Colleagues and Teams around the world.
  • connect with key stakeholders in the company, communicate a strong vision and align this across different all involved groups. As a budget holder, you are responsible for the commercial aspects of your team and managing all associated resources. 
  • build solid relationships with key global suppliers and use their input to deliver a Roadmap for Workplace Technology that will deliver value to Tesco now and over the coming years.
  • balance strong stakeholder management and impeccable technical delivery coupled with commercial acumen.

You will be responsible for

Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business, the following provides an overview of the role’s key responsibilities and measures:

  • lead a strong Workplace & Collaboration strategy form vision to implementation
  • provide, with a strong Technical background of colleague devices, collaboration tools, communication and back-end services, strong guidance and coaching to the team to deliver with the big picture in mind
  • deliver a Workplace & Collaboration Technology Roadmap that will enable Tesco’s colleagues regardless of device or location
  • represent the Workplace & Collaboration team within Technology and Infrastructure and towards the business
  • build and maintain high performance teams capable of delivering an excellent customer service through improved responsiveness, communication, professionalism and knowledge of our technical services.
  • establish strong relationships within Technology, wider business teams and external suppliers to set the service agenda and strategy.
  • work with the Infrastructure Service & Operations team, who holds the operational accountability, to ensure leading Service quality

You will need

Skills relevant for the job

Expert knowledge (must have):

  • Workplace & Collaboration Technologies; O365, AD, Azure AD, Modern Desktop Management, MDM platforms, Cloud file services, on premise/cloud/hybrid collaboration technologies, broadcast platforms, contact centre telephony solutions, Meeting room technology, Cloud Video Interoperability.- Technical expertise in colleague devices (e.g. PC, Mobiles, Handhelds) , collaboration tools (e.g. O365) and back-end services (e.g. Active Directory)
  • Deep understanding of Enterprise Scale organisations – i.e 10,000 users +
  • Very strong stakeholder management skills – able to navigate complex situations and drive towards correct solution.
  • Strong delivery experience – multi million £ projects across multiple geographies

  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Defining & implementing strategies
  • Analytically strong
  • Excellent Influencing skills
  • Broad technical knowledge in a variety of platforms and systems relating to Workplace & Collaboration (e.g. Platforms, Network, etc.)

Additional relevant experience for this job

  • Previous experience working in a leading Workplace & Collaboration role in a large corporate, distributed environment
  • Experience of in all technical relevant areas and connecting them
  • Experience building and leading a team with direct line management accountabilities
  • Experience of successfully deploying change within cross functional or external teams globally distributed
  • Experience of navigating and delivering deeply complex, matrix programmes
