Finance Manager - Group Forecasting

Group Planning is responsible for preparing the in-year Group Forecast, Budget and Long Term Plan (LTP). In addition, we partner key stakeholders across the business (Investor Relations, Treasury, Tax, Reward and Market finance teams) to prepare the accompanying insight and analysis to help drive understanding and decision making.

Reporting into the Head of Finance for Group Planning, this role is responsible for leading on the preparation of the analysis and insight that supports the annual LTP and Budget process.  This includes working closely with various finance teams to understand and articulate the commercial drivers behind future performance, evaluating options for allocating capital and working alongside investor relations to respond to investor/analyst queries.

Furthermore, it offers the opportunity to interact with teams across the business and gain a broad understanding of Tesco’s finances from both an internal and external perspective.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing Executive Committee and Plc Board presentations and communicating findings to the Group Planning and Control Director as well as;

• Preparing analysis on the commercial drivers behind changes in sales, profit, cash and debt metrics.
• Performing sensitivity analysis on our Budget and LTP in response to external market and macro-economic factors.
• Completing the ‘Value Create’ analysis, which provides an external perspective on the total shareholder return (TSR) generated by our LTP, aligned to how investors and analysts view our business.
• Preparing Return on Capital Employed (ROCE) analysis at a Group and Market level to understand the returns our LTP delivers and assist in allocating capital.
• Working alongside Treasury to model strategic options for future shareholder returns.

• Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
• Effective financial analysis skills and a keen eye for detail
• The ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner suitable for a senior audience

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships quickly with stakeholders at all levels
