About the role

The £500m Goods & Services not for Resale (GSNFR) permanent cost savings target and the launch of Save to Invest are key deliverables for the business.

This role plays an active role in delivering the GSNFR savings towards these through business partnering the Procurement leadership team and leading all aspects of the financial modelling, business cases and reporting.

The scope of the role covers UK projects across all six procurement categories (Customer, Retail, Distribution, Property, Technology & Head Office), business partnering the relevant procurement teams, and working closely with the business FP&A teams to ensure savings are accurately recognised.

The role will involve:

  • Providing big picture thinking through insight & analysis for tactical and strategic projects. To assist in identifying and addressing key dependencies and potential issues to meet or exceed plan objectives.
  • Demonstrating financial skill to provide input into GSNFR procurement idea generation and business case/investment reviews e.g. financial modelling, to ensure improvement initiatives are prioritized.
  • Developing strong partner relationships & trust across UK categories.
  • Communicating accurate information and messaging effectively plus running complex, challenging conversations to influence others in reaching positive and mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Applying commercial awareness of Tesco, the industry, competitors, and customers to advise the business in their decision-making and act appropriately in response to market trends.
  • Ensuring robust control and compliance applied to GSNFR procurement activities, both internally e.g. TGAP and regulatory. To contribute to the safeguarding of assets, management of risks and the reliability of reporting.
  • Oversight of the Goods and Services Not For Resale (GSNFR) and Waste and Recycling (W&R) UK forecast, long term plan (LTP) and budget.

You will be responsible for

  • Supporting the Procurement Heads of Global Sourcing in their understanding of project delivery financial impacts.
  • Reviewing and critiquing key business cases to ensure financial accuracy for the business.
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with a broad partner base (all Procurement categories and wider Finance)
  • Working closely with all areas of UK business and FP&A colleagues to ensure integrity of financial reporting.
  • Making valuable contributions – this role is well placed to find opportunities and drive actions that deliver these opportunities through insightful analysis.

You will need

  • Excellence at building relationships with multiple partners, utilising strong communication skills – required in order to handle a broad partner group
  • Commercial awareness of the wider industry
  • To be willing to challenge partners who have a lot of experience in their field
  • To be a great teammate – this role impacts multiple cost lines and therefore collaboration is key
  • An accountancy qualification, e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent
  • To live the Tesco values – no one tries harder / treat others as they wish to be treated
