Job Title: Systems Engineer 1(JD ID: AIX SE1)
Summary: The candidate will be involved in support of highly critical production environment and will be engaged in deployment of midrange systems along with a team of technically competent professionals.
RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for providing remote support in resolving customer issues when problems have been identified
Represent the team in multiple cross-functional forums on technical discussions
Works on incidents of various priorities which requires “hands-on” technical understanding of the systems architectures various products and issues towards resolution
Ensures adherence to SLAs by resolving tickets. Performs system health checks and reports anomaly
Identifies prospects to make technical improvements in the managed areas and related landscape. Implements technical initiatives and process improvements
Operates with Project Managers to work on business projects. Contributes technically to arrive at new solutions builds new servers implements new technologies etc.
Contributes to “risks and issues” log and work on SIPs. Implements SIPs to mitigate the risks & issues
Collaborates with the team members to influence and ensure that support is operating efficiently and generates accurate reports
Coordinates and works with vendor to provide a break-fix. Analyses the incident to arrive at root-cause and prevent recurrence
Creates documentation for Infrastructure Changes Process maps System diagrams RCA etc.
Works on enterprise-wide capacity planning and maintenance planning in the area of support
Capable of accepting additional responsibilities in the line of duty & some travel may be required
MANDATORY SKILLSStrong knowledge on Unix Fundamentals and Internals
In-depth (L3) knowledge in all aspects of AIX System Administration and best practices
Hands-on experience File systems Partitioning volume group related services
Excellent troubleshooting skills on OS LVM and related system issues
Programming knowledge in Shell & should have worked on automating daily tasks
Python programming knowledge & hands-on experience.
Should have worked on assessing and optimizing System Performance and Tuning
Familiarity with system security implementation
Familiarity with enterprise monitoring systems ticketing systems backup and SAN solutions
Strong written and verbal communications along with strong technical documentation SKILLSHands-on experience on Clustering and GFS2 File systems
Experience on Satellite 6
Hands-on knowledge of Ansible & Jenkins.
Knowledge of Network technologies SAN/NAS/DAS technologies & Fiber switches
Migration of application/data from one system to another and Technology Refresh
Exposure to Disaster Recovery practices
Knowledge on Blades
Exposure to Virtualization technologies (Xen Vmware etc.)
