About the role
To manage the energy consumption across the UK estate helping shape the strategy and delivering energy, cost and carbon reductions.
You will be responsible for
- Develop & deliver the onsite renewable energy programme in the UK (onsite PPA and private-wire PPA)
- Support Group countries & subsidiaries in developing and delivering their onsite renewables programme
- Lead the energy strategy of our Distribution Centres (22 sites) and international estate (650 sites across Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Rep Ireland).
- Maintain a thorough understanding of corporate energy and netzero strategy
- Explore and advise on energy strategy/solutions, developing these into projects and initiatives that help us meet our netzero goals.
- Responsible for the carbon emissions reporting for Tesco UK (as per the GHG protocol).
- Deliver energy, carbon & cost reductions across the UK estate to meet budget & Netzero targets
- Manage compliance with relevant energy policies, legislation and schemes (e.g. ESOS)
- Advise on our decarbonisation of heat strategy
- Engage, motivate and influence people in energy/carbon management & reduction
- Mentor and coach colleagues to help develop themselves.
- Work with the wider teams to deliver; Procurement, Treasury, Engineering, Engineering Delivery, Assets & Estates, Legal, Maintenance, etc.
- Keep abreast emerging opportunities, innovation and technology
- Reports into Group Head of Energy
You will need
Operational skills relevant for this job:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- Chartered Energy Manager/Engineer
- Ability to engage people at all levels
- Ability to take initiative, identify priorities and implement actions to achieve goals
- Demonstrable problem solving skills and analytical skills
Experience relevant for this job:
- Energy efficiency operations including HVAC, refrigeration & lighting
- Renewable generation strategy development
- Electric vehicle charging infrastructure planning
- Managing multiple projects across a large property estate
- Managing external service providers and consultants
