About the role

As a Product team within Tesco, we are accountable for helping set the technology direction across our Enabling Functions (Finance, Property, Legal, Compliance) application estates across our UK and global operations. We cover everything from core ERP applications, through to niche products managing unique Tesco processes. As a group we work closely with our business, engineering, and architecture communities to make sure that the directions we propose for our products are strategic and aligned with business priorities.  Alongside being aligned with our business communities, we also need to integrate and support the objectives of our technology and vendor roadmaps.

This role offers a great opportunity to help shape and deliver key capabilities within the global Tesco landscape. The ability to take information from the various trading and non-trading platforms across the Tesco landscape, and ensure that this is reflected correctly within our Enabling Function capabilities. You will be responsible for

  • Have accountability for complex, large product(s) that involve multiple internal & external stakeholders
  • Drive the product strategy, roadmap, and execution for your products alongside a team of talented PMs and engineers
  • Understand the key business stakeholders and their goals / strategies well and steer the product(s) in the right direction based on business priorities
  • Handle conflicting priorities well, communicate clearly and understands how to drive a high level of focus and excellence across the various business and technology teams
  • Identify and remove issues faced by the team by working with the Head(s) of Product / other stakeholders and proactively flag any risks / delays in commitments
  • Responsible for achieving or exceeding agreed product KPIs improvements across all the products owned
  • Collaborate with the Head of Product to understand future demand and direction of the product
  • Carry out people routines for direct reports (APMs, PMs) and develop talented people
  • Contribute in capability and capacity planning for product management, for your own product areas to ensure capacity to drive work
  • Build and nurture a great team of APMs, PMs, based on the business needs, strategic priorities, and level of focus required

You will need

  • Lead Product Manager (LPM) role experience of leading a product(s) roadmap and defining the vision & strategy for a product
  • Broad range of skills / experience within large corporate organisation
  • Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) tool experience
  • environment with process knowledge across numerous enabling functions
  • Experience working with property / maintenance departments and the associated tools and processes
  • Understanding and exposure to asset intensive environments with large, distributed asset estates
  • Exposure to IoT technologies for monitoring key asset data, and the onward interpretation of this to make maintenance and investment decisions
  • Exposure to energy management and monitoring / analysis
  • Understanding of data analysis and interpretation
  • Exposure to ERP processes and integrations / touchpoints (pref. Oracle)
  • Ability to work with both business and technology stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A methodical / analytical approach and great problem-solving skills
  • Attitude and the aptitude to learn new product area / domain quickly
  • Great presentation and persuasion skills
  • Team player who can work collaboratively with other members of the team
  • Ownership, responsiveness and commitment towards assigned work
  • Strong decision making and prioritisation skills, especially when multiple trade-offs are involved and faster decision are required
  • Empathy and good listening skills to understand the needs/ pain points of your customers/ stakeholders
  • Excellent facilitation to effectively manage requirement gathering / elicitation sessions with senior business leaders / stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies, writing effective user stories / acceptance criterions
  • Great coaching skills to help develop product managers within the team
  • Great people skills and can gain respect and trust of team members and others working with you
