A new and rare opportunity has arisen for a Buying Manager to join the Meat, Fish, Poultry and Eggs category in the Fresh Foods Division.

The successful candidate will be looking after Fresh Primary Chicken, an area which is at the heartland of Fresh Food as Chicken is a key driver to winning the total Tesco shopping basket. This opportunity is to lead the Buying and Category Strategy for Chicken, where our ambition is to Sell More Better Quality Chicken, delivered through market leading quality, a welfare step change, and relentless focus on availability and pricing.

You will get the breadth of experience of managing Tesco Own Brand products from farm to fork.

You will be responsible for

  • Marketing out performance and share growth
  • Delivering the best magnetic value in the market
  • Forecasting & managing profitability across the year
  •  Providing a great quality, prices and service level on a consistent basis
  •  Carrying out Improvements to quality & costs through improvements to our operating model from farm to fork
  • Leading on Quality, Welfare and Planet plan for Chicken
  • Leading our Supplier Reset to ensure long term Security of supply

You will need

​To thrive in this position you will need a fusion of market insight, commercial acumen and great communication/negotiation skills. 

  • Experience in Food related roles
  • Buying experience
  • Supplier Management experience
  • Range & trade planning experience
  • Commercial forecasting experience
  • Analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Influencing and communication skills
  • Highly inquisitive with passion for the customer
