About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Head of Product to join our vibrant People team. Playing a vital leadership role, you will be responsible for driving Product strategy across a variety of large complex products whilst leading a talented Product team to make clear decisions and recommendations.

You will be responsible for

  • Accountable for making decisions on the strategy and execution of a Product Portfolio, defining Product roadmaps
  • Owning and leading the definition and writing of detailed product requirements, taking into account constraints and protecting the out of the box product from customisations, while leading and maintaining a well defined backlog. 
  • Understanding the impact of tech debt and ensuring a cost conscious focus; use both to influence Product Strategy and development, working in partnership with engineering and testing teams to drive a superb product that delights
  • Acting as an advisor to the Leadership Team on strategic direction of the team and for overall portfolio of products required to deliver the People Transformation programme
  • Being a fabulous line manager, ensuring my team is developed and supported to reach their full potential, leading by example and driving a culture of continuous growth and improvement
  • Handle conflicting priorities really well, communicate clearly and understand how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong, talented and opinionated team
  • Being a strong voice within the wider product team, supporting with the leadership and development of our teams, championing raising the bar on the capability of all (leaving a positive footprint); driving a product mindset


You will need

  • Proven success in Product Management, driving strategy and direction of multiple complex products
  • Up to date and expert payroll legislative knowledge
  • Previous experience of end to end payroll processes in Oracle HCM
  • Working knowledge of Pension Auto Enrolment
  • Forward thinking in understanding implications of statutory and legislative changes
  • Experience of parallel running and/or payroll comparison testing
  • Understanding of Finance reconciliation and costing processes

The successful candidate will also have superb stakeholder management skills, be a strong decision maker and have a passion for great line management.
