Assistant Designer - Kidswear (Parental Leave Cover)

As an Assistant Desginer, you will be a key part of the design team, supporting the Designer to ensure our customers can buy great quality and inspirational products  at the best price.

• Providing design, product development and sampling support to keep the department running smoothly
• Resolving day to day operational issues/queries, escalating where appropriate
• Conducting customer, catwalk and competitor research to inform my designs, sharing it within design team meetings
• Visiting stores to understand how ranges have landed and how to make things easier for stores
• Helping my manager, identifying core lines, key statements and season colours to drive sales
• Understanding best and worst lines to influence seasonal strategy
• Designing balanced ranges using good/ better/best principles
• Supporting the delivery of ‘must haves’ and seasonal products for our customer
• Assisting my manager by designing the correct number of options to meet the needs of my department
• Aiding with buying team communications , creating awareness of emerging trends and colours
• Compiling brief packs to achieve ‘right first time’ quality buying sample
• Inputting and adhering to the critical path
• Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity & due diligence

You will need to be confident in Photoshop & illustrator, preferably from a Kidswear Design background.  You'll need to have a good eye for colour and print and be confident in trend research and compiling trend boards and presenting these to the team.
