Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business; the following provides an overview of the role’s key responsibilities and measures:
- Play a key part in the introduction of automations software across Tesco; providing technical expertise and shaping the solution
- Developing and maintaining automations and orchestration tooling in line with business needs
- Design solutions where integration between systems is required using APIs and middleware where required
- Implement and maintain monitoring & analytics using New Relic; BigPanda and Splunk
- Implement and own engineering best practice; including automated testing; version control and continuous improvement/refactoring of existing systems
- Provide recommendations to users on best practices and standards when using developed features
- Provide support for the team’s Products
- Develop rules and configurations within the systems to meet user needs and extend functionality; using triggers; automations; macros and extension rules.
- Design and build applications within the tooling platform to extend the functionality beyond the immediate offering
- Create and maintain technical documentation on the Product & developed features

You’ll need to demonstrate:
•5 years’ experience building; owning and maintaining automation and workflow orchestration systems
•Experience with designing and building system integrations using APIs and middleware
•Experience writing automation scripts through PowerShell; Python; Groovy; or similar
•Experience working in an Agile development team (Scrum or Kanban)
•A working understanding of networking
•An ability to learn new technologies rapidly
