Job Description

The Systems Engineering Manager helps to define and influence the technical roadmap for Systems Engineering. Works with Engineering; Product; and Program teams to deliver the roadmap. Discovers/implements technologies to improve functionality; availability; cost efficiency; and stability. Leads a team of System Engineers; manages SLAs/KPIs; within budget while collaborating with teams to ensure product delivery and service.
In this Job; I am Accountable for Evaluating and recommending infrastructure products to meet business needs. Contribute to the roadmap in my technology area. Ensure security is by design. Ensure designs and implementations are documented and highly resilient to ensure a smooth transition to operations. Adopt agile ways of working for effective delivery. Knowledge of emerging technologies needed. Manage the team to ensure the successful delivery of products whilst maintaining service. Ensure that SLAs/KPIs are kept within thresholds.


Leading and developing Tesco System Engineering process for design and architecting solutions
Developing and being accountable for the adoption of and adherence to Tesco System Engineering organisational policies; standards; guidelines
Championing the importance and value of System Engineering design principles
Leading System Engineering design activities for strategic; large and complex systems
Developing System Engineering design and architect processes through the introduction of new technologies or new uses for existing technologies
Building capabilities for automation and continuous integration
Aligning implementations to Tesco strategies and objectives and with emerging technology
Managing changes to services
Leading the response of incident reports; with clear post-incident root cause analysis documentation
Updating stakeholders and customers in a timely manner
Demonstrating experience in Agile project methodology
Taking proactive measures to ensure service stability
