About the role
Ensuring effective investigation and management of enforcement in incidents presenting a material risk to people or the business, to deliver our Safety Policy of compliance, improvement and risk reduction.
You will be responsible for
- Carrying out independent investigation where required of Incidents presenting a material risk in accordance with the Group People Safety Incident investigations protocol.
- Responding to all formal enforcement challenges related to health & safety in retail, distribution and property and managing the investigation through contact with the enforcement officer and liaison with the senior counsel in Group Legal
- Supporting the management of other legal cases involving Tesco including Inquest and where necessary civil claims Ensuring coordination of safety issues which relate to more than one store that arise as a result of injury, investigations or other escalations to ensure that solutions are implemented and risk of harm is reduced
- Managing the relationship between Tesco and the Primary Authority to ensure that assured advice is available for key operational policies and procedures
- Liaison with the Primary authority team around safety compliance and enforcement issues and Tesco has insight into issues that are being picked up by enforcement authorities
You will need
Operational skills relevant for this job:
- Experience in high level safety investigations.
- Experience in safety Enforcement liaison
- Excellent planning & organizing skills; able to devise and execute plans
Experience relevant for this job:
- Health or similar plus NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent CMIOSH or CMIEH CEnv desirable
- At least 5 years commercial experience in retail or fast moving customer orientated business in a team management role
