About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Global Procurement Team to manage and develop the portfolio of supplier contracts, working closely with our business stakeholders to strategically align our contracts to future initiatives continuing to put Tesco at the forefront of providing innovative retail technology products and services to our customers and colleagues.

As Procurement Manager for Software you’ll be provided with the opportunity to procure across Tesco Group UK, CE and synergies with Group Affiliates. Role includes working with key software suppliers/vendors in the market.

Our team works with many different functions across the business which will give you great insight into areas such as Distribution, Retail, Marketing, Finance, Property and many more. We are looking for someone to support Tesco group partners, globally, by negotiating commercial and legal terms with new and incumbent suppliers and managing supplier relationships.

You’ll be challenged in this role due to the fast and exciting pace and the role you will play in closing out key contracts/agreements that make a difference for our customers and colleagues.

You will be responsible for

  • Management and leading the end-to-end procurement process across Opex and Capex projects
  • Defining with our functional teams and technology experts the go-to market strategy for new contracts, identifying the best commercial model and supporting on RFP/RFQ activities
  • Strong awareness of the IT/Technology supply market with procurement knowledge across Functional / Digital Applications
  • Software sourcing & category management experience
  • Through influence and challenge, develop strong working relationships with partners to support, endorse and deliver sub-category plans aligned to category Procurement strategies to realise business savings and support innovation.
  • Build and deliver sub-category plans aligned to Category Plans by being innovative and collaborative with various cross functional partners
  • Actively minimise revenue and capital costs through improved use of tools, processes and application of best practice.
  • Consistently track and report on savings targets
  • Driving competition through running robust end-to-end tenders, negotiations and eAuctions; making data driven decisions based on analysis of total cost of ownership
  • Driving performance, best value, and continued innovations from key suppliers through robust supplier relationship management processes. This includes consistent management of contracts from award to implementation and ongoing performance reviews.
  • Support the business to achieving compliance with legal, ethical and safety procurement policies with integrity and good judgement

 

You will need

  • CIPS qualified at level 4 (diploma) preferred but not compulsory
  • 5 Years strong procurement experience
  • Previous Procurement management of Software contracts
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience running sourcing events
  • Supplier relationship and performance management experience
  • Responsive in a fast-changing environment; resilience & willingness to challenge
  • Able to collaborate well and build solid working relationships with peers and senior leadership across different teams
  • Ability to demonstrate strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills to all levels of seniority and disciplines within the organisation
  • Category Planning skills, capability to build and execute strategies
  • Capability to lead complex large-scale projects, driving innovation and best practice through others
  • Excellent attention to detail and using data to drive business decisions at a senior level
  • MS Office
  • Strong Commercial acumen
  • Contract management experience
  • Development of self, high standards of personal ethic
