About the role

This Senior Technical Programme Manager will be the central programme and portfolio role for delivery across all Cyber Security at Tesco. As a Senior Technical Programme Manager, you will deliver complex, cross-functional Cyber Security programmes that support colleagues, drive forward our strategy and ultimately help serve our customers better. You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the cyber leadership remit to organise, align and ensure we are focussing our project direction in the right areas.

You will be responsible for

Programme/Portfolio Management:

  • Develop and implement robust governance frameworks to manage diverse programmes.
  • Define, prioritize, and resource initiatives based on risk, impact, and strategic alignment.
  • Implement effective controls and processes, ensuring transparent reporting and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor progress against KPIs and make adjustments to optimize outcomes.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses and recommend resource allocation strategies.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior executives, business leaders, and technical stakeholders.
  • Communicate programme/portfolio status, risks, and benefits effectively to inform decision-making.
  • Proactively manage stakeholder expectations and address concerns promptly.

Programme Development:

  • Support the development, implementation, and communication of programme activities.
  • Establish or improve delivery methodologies to achieve programme goals.
  • Initiate and shape programmes with ambiguity, adapting to changing environments.
  • Create and track plans, including technical implementation plans.

You will need

Programme Experience: 

  • Have a proven record of accomplishment in delivering complex technology programmes across multiple teams and workstreams
  •  Have experience of building credible relationships and influencing senior management & leadership teams

Technical Acumen:

  • Understand trade-offs in delivery, influencing stakeholders to optimize solutions.
  • Foresee potential risks and issues, establishing processes and managing escalations.
  • Have a good grasp of technical cyber security concepts and their implications on delivery, utilizing engineering knowledge.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define budget requirements.

Cyber Security Focus:

  • Partner with the CISO and leadership to translate cyber security strategy into programmes.
  • Ensure programmes mitigate key cyber risks and contribute to business objectives.
  • Identify and assess cyber security project risks, developing mitigation strategies.
  • Lead and manage the execution of cyber security projects and programmes.
