About the role

This is an exciting position working within our Group Legal team!

You will be advising on all aspects of Tesco's high-profile advertising, marketing, branding; and customer propositions to ensure their compliance with relevant advertising rules and regulations, and to maintain our customers' trust and brand reputation.

Your role is to balance risk and commercial benefit, to provide timely and clear legal advice that is solutions-driven.

The role involves a good breadth of work as well as the opportunity to work autonomously - you will be able to get under the skin of strategic marketing, advertising campaigns, propositions and branding.

You will be responsible for

  • Principal point of contact for the UK Customer teams on all matters to do with Tesco's advertising, marketing, brands; and customer propositions.
  • Advising on all aspects of key marketing campaigns and assets; reviewing external marketing for TV; social media; out-of-home & press releases, including ensuring compliance with ASA and other relevant advertising regulation.
  • Managing ASA compliance and investigations.
  • Advising on a range of soft intellectual property matters across our business on an ad hoc basis, including clearance searches, brand protection, and advising on product and packaging risks from an IP perspective
  • Providing ad hoc support on general commercial matters, in support of the wider Legal function
  • Maintaining the company knowledge bank and delivering business training on marketing compliance.
  • Considering stakeholders concerns and spotting other issues: working with the business and adding value.
  • Supporting the development of efficient business processes and protocols. - Delivering Marketing and IP training across the business

You will need

  • Relevant qualification - Law degree, a Graduate Diploma in Law, an LPC qualification, CILEx or NALP qualification (or similar)
  • Experience advising on advertising and marketing compliance matters.
  • Previous inhouse experience preferred
