Tesco Technology develops the IT solutions used in thousands of Tesco stores and online shopping platforms. In Budapest, our Technology hub employs nearly 150 highly trained software engineers, mainly senior or technical leads, working closely with other Technology teams in the UK, India and Poland.

The Hungarian colleagues help to create, among other things, the software used in self-service checkouts worldwide, the monitoring solutions collecting real time data from tens of thousands of tills, the interface of Tesco from Home in Central Europe and the routing and optimisation tools for various logistic and home delivery services.

Our colleagues are V-shaped engineers with strong Java/JavaScript skills, using cutting edge tech stack. Based in our office in Váci út 187. this multi-functional team of specialists drives operational excellence of services, scales our systems and processes globally and creates business leading capabilities.

 

About our Technology Graduate Programme.

We launched the 2x12 months long Technology Graduate programme to hire talented people as Graduate Software Development Engineers or Graduate Product Managers. Both starts in September and open for young and enthusiast graduates who are ready to work in a great tech team and solve large-scale problems with huge impact on millions of our customers.

Whichever of the two positions you apply for, you will join a tech team of medior and senior colleagues. You will work beside them on their actual projects, so there will always be someone by your side to whom you can turn to and ask your questions . Learning from them you will reach high level of professionalism in a shorter period which normally would take more time

During the 24 months you will challenge  yourself within more Technology teams receiving an opportunity to get familiar with every part of our work. To speed up your professional improvement, we will provide e-learning materials, trainings, and individual support from our colleagues – including buddy programme.

Collaboration is key to implement anything more complex. We will help you to develop not only your technical, but also your soft skills. Communication, personal development, teamwork and influencing are part of our curriculum. And the most important thing: we care about your views; even as a grad you can make an impact.

 

As a Graduate Software Development Engineer, you will learn about…

-          advanced Java and JavaScript coding in autonomous teams

-          API and UI developer standards

-          cloud services and microservice architectures

-          agile methodology and DevOps approach

-          pipelines, testing, security and several other aspects of our IT environment

 

We are not just coders, we are software engineers responsible for the full SDLC (software development lifecycle) including design, coding, testing, deployment, support. Using agile principles, you will learn how to protect customer data, how to automate, and how to build large-scale systems – how do code the future of shopping. After the 24 months of our programme, you can become a medior engineer or as we call it – a Software Development Engineer II.

As a Graduate Product Manager, you will learn about…

-          best practices of product development

-          product vision and strategy

-          user and customer experience

-          cooperation and coordination of activities with other teams

 

Working close with both of the business and technical side you can look at the bigger picture of product development. During the first months you will spend 1-2 weeks working in one of our stores. You will learn how our stores operate and how they link to your role or project. Whilst cooperating with our engineers you will gain a breadth of technology experience and skills which will equip you to find new ways of development for our products.
