HGV Drivers

As a Tesco HGV driver, you’ll be the face of your Distribution Centre – and not just for the people you meet out on the road. Our colleagues in Stores don’t normally get to see inside a Distribution Centre, so every delivery is an opportunity to demonstrate our efficient, enthusiastic, safe and professional way of working within distribution.

With more than 60 million cases of food being delivered each week, you’ll play a vital role in making sure our stock is where it needs to be, on time.

There’s more to it than being a good driver. You’ll be collecting as well as delivering, supporting your distribution centre by moving trailers and keeping vehicles fuelled. And like all Tesco Drivers, you’ll be a champion for road safety.

This is a hands-on job, with plenty of responsibility. You’ll be out on the road but also working closely with colleagues and representing Tesco to everyone you meet. You’ll spend your time on a variety of activities, depending on your role.

To become a Tesco Driver, you'll need a full HGV 1 (C+E) EU licence with no more than six current penalty points showing, the new Driver Card and you'll need to be at least 21 years of age.

HGV Drivers

An ambassador on our roads, you’ll play a vital role for our customers and communities, representing Tesco on the highways and byways of the UK. We’re looking for people to be our driving force, who love what they do and take pride in what they do.

Expect a little more

We offer all kinds of great benefits. From a retirement savings plan to our colleague discount (10% discount after six months' service), there’s lots to gained by being part of the Tesco team.

Since we introduced our Tesco values over 10 years ago, they have become a key part of our culture, growth and success. They influence how we work together and make sure that customers are at the centre of what we do. Our three values guide how we offer brilliant little differences for customers, colleagues and communities.

  • No one tries harder for customers
  • We treat everyone how they want to be treated
  • Every little help makes a big difference

All of this makes for a culture where you'll feel respected, trusted and empowered to do your best for our customers. In return, you can count on your hard work to be recognised and rewarded. And you'll have the freedom and support to develop your career in a way that best suits you.

Equality, diversity and inclusion are really important to us at Tesco. We aim to build great teams that reflect our local communities, so we can provide the best possible service to our customers. And that means recruiting people from the widest possible talent pool. Put simply, everyone is welcome at Tesco.

In a business full of varied opportunities, you'll have everything you need to create a career path that meets your own personal goals and aspirations.
